A future impetus for the automotive industry
- The first part of the Industry Track at HHC24 explored the future of the automotive industry, emphasizing the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and software-defined vehicles. Presentations by Jan Wehinger (MHP - A Porsche Company) and Steffen Krause (Capgemini) highlighted key trends such as connected cars, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and generative AI (GenAI) integration into embedded vehicle architectures. Krause’s presentation, “Natural Language meets Embedded Code: Autosar and GenAI,” examined the challenges of implementing GenAI in vehicle IT systems, which must balance real-time constraints, safety requirements, and cloud-based software agility. Wehinger’s presentation, “Automotive Disruption: From Software-Defined Vehicle to Software-Defined Company,” analyzed AI’s transformative role across the automotive value chain. He emphasized AI as a disruptive force comparable to mobile internet and cloud computing.
