Unendlich viel seltsamer : digitale Lebenswelten und die Frage nach der Wirklichkeit
- Sociology is a discipline for skeptics, a discipline that makes the familiar strange. One of the classical topics for sociological analysis is the question of what is considered to be reality in a social context. In times of post-truth discussions and the decline of belief in scientific data, the mechanisms of a construction of individual life-worlds and realities gain a particular relevance. Digital media and digitally created environments are an essential element in this construction and are, by now, part of most people´s everyday lives. This paper offers a discussion of the complex issue drawing both on empirical data and theoretical concepts in order to identify basic perspectives on reality in a media saturated society.
