Curved crease pattern generation for cylindrical surface-of-revolution origami with circular holes around the axis of rotation
- This paper presents a method for computing crease patterns for 3D origami models that represent smooth cylindrical surfaces of revolution with concentric circular holes around the axis of rotation. In art applications such as curved crease origami lampshade design, this feature can be used to install support posts or feed electrical wiring through stacks of constrictions. A prototype version of the proposed method was implemented as an extension of the web-browser based open-source curved origami crease pattern generator ORI-REVO. Example designs are presented that demonstrate the practical function of the proposed approach.
